About Quiz Worx

Quiz Worx is a group of committed Christians who share the good news of Jesus with kids in fun, exciting and creative ways. They use the mediums of puppetry, music, chalk talks, animations, storytelling, drama, quick draw, comics, and numerous other tools to present this good news.

Quiz Worx were formed in 1998 by Matt Gorton and Simon Jessup, with their furry friends Scruff and Blue Bottle, as a part-time ministry. Their aim was to present the great message of Jesus to kids wherever they were invited in Sydney.

The first show they performed was to a total of four children. The next week they returned to the same church, and this time there were three children!

Not to be put off, they kept going, and over the next couple of years, through no great planning on their behalf, became busier and busier with shows being booked most weekends.

In 2000 Matt began full time study at Sydney Missionary and Bible College, with the aim that after three years, if it was God’s will, he would start working full-time with Quiz Worx. [It must be noted, this was his aim. But in reality, he was quite unsure whether this would ever be a possibility].

In late 2001, during the Christmas rush which Quiz Worx was starting to become used to, Chris Gray, with his fast talking and excitable Mongoose friend Clarence, joined the team. [The Christmas rush is an intense period of three weeks of school Christmas shows, which in 2001 numbered at about 30 shows, and has steadily grown till in 2008 Quiz Worx performed over 130 shows in the same period of time].

In 2003, Quiz Worx did become a full time ministry with Matt full time, and Chris working one day a week, with Simon still doing regular shows in the weekends. During that year they were also joined by Liz Nade, who did a great job of helping out with various shows also on weekends.

Gradually over the following few years Simon and Liz started to be less involved in performing shows due to other commitments, while Chris became even more heavily involved, becoming a full time worker alongside Matt in 2006. They were ably helped out by Ed David, who worked part-time with them for three years dong office administration.

In 2008 they were also joined by Danny Cooke and Roslyn Hicks, who brought extra puppetry skills, script writing abilities, wood working prowess and puppet design and making. Then in 2009 Anthony Barden, Wade Iedema, and Daniel Johnson joined the team, bringing new skills in IT, Video editing, administration, acting, and numerous other abilities.

Since Quiz Worx began they have performed over 2000 shows throughout Sydney, NSW and interstate. The majority of these shows have been done in State schools, having been invited in by SRE teachers to perform at Scripture assemblies. Numerous shows have also taken place in Private schools, churches, fetes, and various Outreach events. At all of these shows, Jesus has been proclaimed clearly and enjoyably. Quiz Worx also aims to equip others with creative resources that can be used to help connect with and engage children with the gospel of God. Currently they have a Rocking Music CD, Living 4 Jesus, featuring 19 Biblically based songs aimed primarily at primary aged children. They have also produces an evangelistic comic book titled ‘The Amazing Rescue’. Their other resource is a Kids Mission Pack, which gives all you need to know for running your own 3-5 day kids mission.

They are currently working on a number of other projects, from a Church resource pack with the theme of ‘World Missions’, title ‘On Board With God’ to a DVD of visually stimulating concepts based on Jesus’ words in ‘The Sermon on the Mount’ to a DVD of kids talks from the book of Genesis. Quiz Worx Mission Statement

Quiz Worx exists to:

* Evangelise children, especially within state schools, wherever we travel
* Minister to christian children within the wider christian community
* Resource others, especially those working in SRE in state schools, in their ministry to children.

What We Believe

God is the creator and ruler of everyone, but each of us has rejected God’s right to rule our lives. Because of this, we all deserve to be eternally separated from God’s love.

Yet God still loves us and wants us all to be in a relationship with Him. He made this possible by sending His Son, Jesus, who was fully human and fully God, to die in our place. Jesus took the punishment that we deserved for rejecting God, and then He rose again.

We become God’s children through faith in Jesus, then live with God as our Father here on earth. When Jesus returns we will spend eternity with God as our God, and us as His people, in a perfect world.
