Outreach Shows:

The Good Shepherd

This show is an exciting show, that features 2 puppet characters, 2 human characters, and includes a song, a drama [involving children from the audience], and chalk drawing. It is based on Jesus’ saying in John 10: Jesus said, “I am the good shepherd. I lay down my life for the sheep.” This show focus’ specifically on the fact that Jesus Cares. He cares for his people so much that he was willing to lay down his life [ie. Die] for them. Yet he is so powerful that he beat the biggest enemy [death], and came back to life again. Isn’t this the kind of person you’d want to entrust your life to?

Prodigal Jim [NO Matter What You Do!]

In Luke 15 Jesus tells the parable of what has become known as ‘The Prodigal Son’. Using a modern day adaptation of this parable, this particular show focus’ on the incredible love of God. It is stated over and over again that ‘No matter what you do, God always cares for you. So tell him that you’re sorry, and God will forgive you- It’s So true.’ If we trust Jesus we can know this is the case because God has shown us how much he loves us by sending Jesus to die for us. This is a very fun show, which again includes 2 puppets, 2 people, a mimed drama, a song and MAGIC writing.

The GREATEST Party

“The Kingdom of Heaven is like a king who prepared a great banquet…” This show is based on Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 22 and Luke 14 about the great party that heaven will be. Again using 2 puppets the idea of celebrating at parties is introduced. The show then goes on to explain that even the best parties here on earth are but a small glimpse of how great heaven will be. And while everyone is invited, the way to accept the invitation to this greatest party is to ‘Trust Jesus’. This is achieved through involving kids in a drama, getting them to sing a very rocking song, and through combating some common misconceptions.

Sin Fixer

Sin is awful. It also has terrible consequences. Here we look at three of those consequences- 1) People get sick, 2) People don’t like each other, and 3) The worst problem is we all deserve to be punished by God and no longer be his friend. However, Jesus is the Sin Fixer. When he was here on earth he showed that he could fix the three problems of sin. And one day, when he returns, we will never have these problems, because the sin fixer will be king of heaven. During this show the puppet writes a remarkably catchy and original song, which goes: ?Jesus sin fixer, Can he fix it? Jesus sin fixer?. [can you fill in the blank?!?]

God’s Team

The puppets really want to make it onto the Australian sports team. However, despite their best attempts, they simply are not good enough. Using this as a launching pad, the children are taught that God’s Team is much better than any sporting team. It is so good because being on God’s Team means being on a team that lasts forever. However, unlike most team selections here on earth, making it into God’s team does not depend on one’s skills, abilities, or even goodness. There’s only one way on, and it’s through God’s Son, so you need to trust Jesus forever.

Invite to a Party

This show looks at the parable of the Great Banquet [Matthew 22 and Luke 14]. The focus is on the fact that everyone is invited to the greatest party ever- Heaven, and that to get in all you have to do is accept the invitation by trusting Jesus. The show parallels people’s need to accept the invitation with a puppets need for a teddy bear to attend a friends ‘Teddy Bear Party’. This show works well for young audiences.

Christmas shows

Quiz Worx have been performing Christmas shows for over 10 years, and as such have a reasonable back catalogue of themes. These range from ‘What is Christmas Really About?’ [a time tested, works well in most situations, winner], to ‘Santa Vs Jesus’ [comparing how Jesus and Santa stack up when it comes to Christmas- FYI- Jesus comes out on top], to ‘The Story of the Greatest King Ever’ [Looking at how Jesus showed he was the real and greatest king], through to ‘The Greatest Party’ [Christmas is a time of celebration, but there is a celebration even bigger to look forward to for everyone who trusts Jesus].

Each year we write a new Christmas theme, and aim for all of them to be highly engaging, exciting, new, but most of all, have them pointing to Jesus. Why not get Quiz Worx to come and perform at your school/church/carols.

Outreach Series [ie. 3-5 day kids missions]:

The Amazing Rescue

This mission was originally written as a three day mission, though it can be easily adapted to be a five day one. There are three stories that run each day, all with a common ‘Rescue’ theme. There is the Jungle drama, which follows a reporter Jane McClaine in her search of the mythical great white Ape. However, Jane is Jane-napped, and needs to be rescued. As it turns out she is rescued by the great white ape himself- Tazo [who turns out to be not such an Ape after all]. The second story is movie story-board set at Sea. Scruff takes a boat made by his friend Clarence out to sea. HE disobeys the one rule given to him by Clarence ['Do not pull out the plug'] and he starts to sink. He needs to be saved, and ends up being saved by ‘Claz the Courageous’- through many twists and turns. The final rescue story is the ‘Real Rescue’, which is about how God saves people through His Son Jesus. The kids are encouraged to have Jesus as their own rescuer.

God’s Team

This mission has uses a sporting theme as a means to speak to the kids about being one of God’s people through Jesus. Each day there is a sporting drama which helps introduce the main point of the days lessons. This is followed by talks all about Jesus. The titles of the 5 talks are ‘The Greatest Captain/Coach’ [showing that Jesus is Powerful and Cares]; ‘Victory from the Jaws of Defeat’ [looking at Jesus' death and resurrection]; ‘Team Selection’ [looking at the kinds of people Jesus chose to be on his team, and seeing that the one thing they all have in common is that they trusted Jesus to get onto God's team]; ‘Playing on the Team’ [how do you live when on God's Team? You read the instruction manual [Bible], go to team training [church, etc...],and Love one another]; and the final talk looks at ‘The Prize that lasts forever’ [Heaven- living with God and Jesus forever in a world that will never perish, spoil or fade].

Galactic Quest

This Space themed mission has a drama that follows 4 whacky adventurers around the galaxy searching for the answer to what holds life together. This drama subtlety helps introduce each days talks. The talks of this mission start with teaching the kids that Jesus is the one who made the stars, moon, trees and you and me. Each day then looks at how this Jesus related to various people that he met, so we could see how he would relate you us now. The people that are discussed are Simon the smelly fisherman; Nicodemus the good religious man; The sad, rejected Samaritan Woman; The unimportant children who were brought to Jesus; and the short, not very nice tax-collector Zacchaeus.

Discipleship talks/series:

[for a church setting that is not primarily evangelistic. You can choose an individual talk from each of these, or use as part of a four part series]

Suffering

One of the Biggest questions Christians and non-Christians have is “Why does God allow suffering?” In 2007, at Katoomba Easter Convention, Quiz Worx tackled this sensitive issue in their talks for the Primary aged section. There are 4 talks in the series, all which can stand alone, though the ideal is that they build on each other to get a fuller picture.

  • Talk 1: Why bother? This talk looks at the question of why bother continuing on, and especially why bother trusting Jesus when there is so much suffering. The line ‘Knowing how it all will end helps us carry on’ is used throughout the talk. That is, knowing that one day Jesus will return and bring a fixed up world can help us continue on trusting him here and now. The talk shows that this is what allowed Jesus to go through the agony and suffering of the cross: he knew the joy set before him. [Hebrews 12:2]
  • Talk 2: Why did God allow Suffering? If God’s plan is to get rid of suffering, why allow it in the first place? This answer looks at one aspect of this question: namely that humans chose to disobey God’s rule, and this has led to a world of suffering. Sin causes suffering. It is shown that sometimes our individual sin can cause us or others to suffer directly [for eg. When you hit someone, that causes them to suffer]. But it is also shown that a direct link between an individual’s sin and suffering is not always the case [such as is often the case with sickness or 'natural' disasters], however these still occur due to ‘sin’ being in the world.
  • Talk 3: Why do good people suffer? It is a fact that within this world, at times, good things happen to bad people and bad things happen to bad. How are Christians meant to deal with this. Using the example of Joseph, it is shown that even in unjust suffering, God is still in control and is working all things together for the good of those who love Him.
  • Talk 4: Why do Christians Suffer? This goes a little deeper than simply why do Christians suffer like everyone else [which is more talk three]. This asks the questions why Christians suffer specifically BECAUSE they are Christians. It is shown that God often uses our hardships to make us more like Jesus.

Money

“The Love of Money is a Root of all kinds of Evil” [1 Tim 6:10]. Greed would no doubt be one of, if not THE, biggest idols of our time. And it is one that is extremely difficult to fight, even when you strive to be one of God’s people. Yet it is so often ignored in the church’s teaching.  This series was once again written for KEC [2008], and aims to tackle this very important issue head on, in a way that challenges kids, and adults [at least it challenged us when we wrote them], about how to live being content.

  • Talk 1: Contentment. ‘Godliness, makes your life rich, to be content with what you have’. These opening lines from the Quiz Worx song ‘The Love of Money’ sum up the theme of this first talk. When we truly know God through his Son Jesus, we can be content, whether we have much or little. We can do this because we know that God cares for us and gives us all we need. The Quiz Worx animation of ‘Do Not Worry- Matthew 6:25-34′ is used during this talk.
  • Talk 2: Be generous to the Poor and Needy. ‘All around me there are toys, and friends all making lots of noise, telling me I need to get one more gadget, then I’m set. There are people starving too, Oh what am I meant to do, Follow Jesus that’s the call, to give away more and more.’ This talk shows that throughout the Bible God calls upon his people to help those less fortunate than they. The parable to the Rich man and Lazarus is told during this talk. This talk seeks to apply this general principle to the kids lives, as they live for Jesus each day.
  • Talk 3: Support Christian Ministry. ‘X-box, Wii and PS3, really gain a grip on me, Do I really need to see Every film on DVD? With the money that I own, Keep my eye of heaven’s home, help those who have one to tell Of my Jesus- Give a Yell.’ The message of God’s love for mankind is too important to be hindered from spreading throughout the world due to lack of funds. This talks seeks to encourage the kids to see that supporting gospel ministry is a VERY important aspect of being a discip0le of Jesus. Again, ways are thought of that they, as kids, can start doing this.
  • Talk 4: Focus on the Important things. ‘Jesus on the cross, Died and rose again, If I believe in Him, Life will never end, So why run after things that will only fade away? I’ll go Jesus’ way each and every day… The Love of Money is a Root of Evil, be content with what you have.’ This talk wraps up these talks by reminding us that this world and its things will not last, so we need to focus on Jesus, who gave up everything to become poor for us so we could become rich. This is the motivation to live the way God wants when it comes to the use of our money.

Holy Spirit

These 4 talks focus on Who the Holy Spirit is [He is God in Us], and What He does [1- Points others to Jesus; 2- Makes us more like Jesus; 3-Gives us gifts to serve others]. This series aims to give a greater understanding of the privilege Christians have in knowing God personally through the indwelling of His Spirit, and to see how the Spirit living in us affects the way we live, talk and think.
